What is your neutering policy?
We do not accept unneutered female dogs over 12 months of age.
The health and safety of our members is our number one priority and we have thought long and hard about our neutering policy, taking guidance not only from our Veterinarian but also our Behaviourist and Training team. Dogs unfortunately can sometimes become slaves to their hormones, which can result in undesirable behaviours and increase the risk of fights between groups and individuals.
Although we respect every owner’s choice whether to neuter or not neuter their dog, we have chosen this policy in order to keep your dog safe from potential unwanted matings, avoid the risks of fights between dogs when ladies are in season and most importantly as neutering female dogs has a number of health benefits including:
- Eliminating ovarian cancer
- Eliminating uterine cancer
- Reduced the chance of developing breast cancers, the most common type of malignant tumour in female dogs. Malignant tumours are very aggressive and can spread to multiple organs and are fatal in 50% of dogs. Small breast lumps are commonly missed by owners too
- Prevents dogs developing a pseudo-pregnancy (phantom pregnancy) after their season, which can be distressing and if severe require veterinary treatment
- Eliminates the risks of unwanted pregnancies and the potential need for C-sections in small dog breeds.
- Avoids problematic attention from persistent males
- Eliminates the risk of developing a pyometra, a potential life threatening infection of the uterus, which often requires expensive emergency surgery.
Are you licensed?
Our daycare license was awarded by our local borough council, Hammersmith and Fulham. Licence Reference number: 2024/00976/ANIMBD
Will my dog be supervised?
Your dog will never be left unattended and will always be supervised by one of our dog carers.
When can I drop off my dog?
Once you’ve booked your day with us, you can then drop them off any time between our opening hours, we just require notice by email in advance so we know when to expect you!
What’s your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your dog’s attendance at daycare, we require 24 hours notice.
How do you become a member?
It’s super simple, just head to our website, click on ‘become a member’, and complete our membership application form. We’ll ask for a few details about your dog so we already have an understanding of their individual needs before we welcome them into the club. You’ll then be able to select a date and time to come in for an initial assessment. We’ll need you to send us a copy of your dog’s medical records from your current Vet ahead of your dog’s assessment.
We use the assessment to gauge the suitability of your dog to the environment – whether they will be happy and relaxed at daycare, what type of play style they have, how they interact with people and other dogs and whether they will need a little help or encouragement in any areas. It also gives you the chance to meet some of the team and ask us any questions you may have. All being well, we will then invite you to become an official member and you’ll reap all the enriching benefits of our dog-loving community, events and services!
What are the prerequisites for becoming a member?
As part of the application process, we’ll need to:
• Receive a copy of your dog’s medical records from your current vet, including assurance that your dog is fully vaccinated.
• Complete a successful assessment to gauge the suitability of your dog to the environment. We’ll be seeing whether your dog is happy and relaxed at daycare, it’s playing style, how it interacts with others and whether any encouragement is needed.
If that all looks good, then you’ll be invited to become an official member!
How will my dog be grouped at daycare?
The assessment we complete during the application stage will tell us a lot about how your dog interacts with others and what play style it has, as well as the age and size of your pet. When grouping dogs together we take all of this into consideration, ensuring groups are made up of dogs with complimentary personalities, so your dog goes home to you happy and balanced, having had a fulfilling and enriching experience.
Can my dog be fed at daycare?
Yes absolutely, mealtimes are great fun here at WagWorks! We have a Dog Pantry where your dog’s food will be refrigerated or stored and feeding stables where the dogs are separated so they can enjoy their meals in peace.
After eating, your dog will have a 30-minute rest period to allow for healthy digestion before playtime with friends again. We do ask that any food given to us is already measured out and clearly labelled with your dog’s name to ensure mealtimes flow as seamlessly as possible!
What if my dog has an allergy, can you cater for this at daycare?
If you make us aware of any allergies, your dog will wear a light up collar whilst in our indoor park, the colour of which will indicate which type of treats, if any, they are able to eat.
The use of allergy collars enables us to easily and quickly identify which dogs must not be given certain foods. We also have charts in our dog pantry and TV screens in our indoor park, which are updated daily and state which dogs have allergies on that day.
Do I need to book on the same days each week?
You don’t no. Providing you with maximum flexibility is incredibly important to us, so you can book whenever you like, as late as you like.
My dog is scared of the vet, how can you help with this?
Vets can be scary for dogs, which is why we’ve put so much work into creating a healthcare experience that is totally unique. At every visit you and your dog will be greeted by the same veterinary team, to ensure continuity of care and that a visit to
the vets is a familiar experience for your dog.
Just like the rest of WagWorks, our healthcare suite has been designed to be welcoming and calming for your dog to avoid any ‘white coat’ fear some dogs display in more clinical-looking environments.
